SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: The end of the year is usually a busy time for K-pop and K-dramas fans as the Korean entertainment industry begins to hold one award show after another. The 49th Korea Broadcasting Awards was held on September 5 this year, and the in-person show saw performances from K-pop girl groups like (G)I-DLE and New Jeans. The show had nominations for 26 film, news, variety, and survival show titles as well as domestically broadcast television shows.

The 49th Korea Broadcasting Awards bestowed 18 individual awards, including a Daesang (Grand Prize) to “Extraordinary Attorney Woo’s Park Eun-min” for his appearance in the KBS K-drama “King’s Affection” with SF9’s Rowoon in the lead role. The show also saw a big win for 2PM star Junho “The Red Sleeve,” while Cube Entertainment’s girl group (G)I-DLE took home the only K-pop award of the night. List of Winners of Korea Broadcasting Awards 2022

1. Best Drama: MBC’s “The Red Sleeve”

2PM’s starring K-drama Junho was the most award-winning release of 2022. The MBC show was so popular during its airing that the creators were asked to produce a special episode to meet fans’ expectations. Based on a novel of the same name, the 17-episode series chronicles the court romance between the King of Joseon and his peasant girl. The king believes that his duty is to his country before love, and the lady of the court wants to protect the life she has chosen.

2. Best Video Graphics: Kim Soo-kyum (MBC ‘The Red Sleeve’)

3. Best Variety Star: Jun Hyun-moo (MBC’s ‘The Manager’)

Variety show star Jun Hyun-moo is a regular cast member of MBC’s variety talk show “The Manager,” also known as “Point of Omniscient Interfere.” The program is an MBC observational entertainment show that uses documentary-style techniques to observe the lives of cast members who are famous celebrities and their managers.

4. Best Singer: (G)I-DLE (MBC’s ‘Music Core’)

The five-member Cube Entertainment girl group took to Instagram to express their gratitude for winning the award, saying, “(G)I-DLE won the award for Best Vocalist. Congratulations to us for winning the award. title thanks to Neverland (fans of (G)I-DLE). Thank you for the great love you sent. We will grow to be greater singers for our Neverland.”

5. Best Actor: Park Eun-bin (KBS’s ‘The King’s Affection’)

Before ENA’s “Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” Park Eun-bin appeared in the 2022 K-drama “The King’s Affection.” The 49th Korea Broadcasting Awards congratulated Park Eun-bin with a grand prize for her role on the KBS show. She said: “I took the time to remember what the time I spent last year with ‘The King’s Affection’ was like. This show was a dream that gave me the chance to live like a king in the Joseon Dynasty and he is both a character and a project that I will remember and cherish in the future.”

6. Judge’s Special Award: Song Hae

The show also unanimously awarded host Song Hae a Special Jury Prize. Shin Jae-dong, head of KBS’ National Singing Contest, took the stage as a backup to accept the award on behalf of the late singer and host, saying, “I thought how great it would have been. great if Song Hae had received the award in person. Professor Song Hae cherishes “National Singing Pride” as if it were his own body. Veteran singer Song Hae, who died in June, served as MC of “National Singing Contest” from KBS for 34 consecutive years since 1988.
