The Anurak Community Lodge in Thailand’s Khao Sok National Park will officially reopen on August 1, after a two-year hiatus caused by COVID19 travel restrictions and regulations.
The 19-unit nature retreat has used the past two years to upgrade rooms, refresh its F&B menu, and introduce new activities for guests, such as hiking, biking, and participating in a reforestation project.
Customers can pay THB300 (US$8) to plant native tree saplings under Anurak’s Rainforest Rising Project, which was established by Chiang Mai University’s Forestry Research and Restoration Unit.

The project is supported by Khao Sok National Park authorities with the aim of fostering diversity of plant life to encourage pollination and feeding by insects, birds and mammals such as civets and badgers.
For its reopening, Anurak has also marked the Anurak Trail, a one-kilometre circular hike starting and ending at the lodge.
It takes about 45 minutes to complete and pass fig trees, bamboo and vines. The path enters a small cave and ends with a walk through coffee and rubber plantations.
“Our new reopening goal is to make Anurak Lodge a fully functioning base camp for quality ecotourism experiences in the region,” said Christopher Cribbs, manager.
Anurak’s new menu is inspired by local traditions in southern Thailand and now includes dishes such as yellow fish curry (pla tuptim), stir-fried pork with yellow curry paste (kua kling moo), shrimp paste sauce with vegetables, fried eggs and fish (nam prik kapi), turmeric chicken soup (gai tom kamin) and spicy vegetable salad (yam puk kut).
“Many of our guests at Anurak are passionate about experimenting with local flavors,” added Christopher. “It’s a big part of their destination experience in southern Thailand.”
Anurak Community Lodge is located approximately 75 minutes drive from Surat Thani airport, 2 hours from Krabi airport and 2 hours 30 minutes from Phuket airport.
