Ahead of NYC’s opening, proud New York native Steven Salm said, “We are thrilled to finally share PLANTA with the greatest city in the world. We believe the power of plants can change the world, and that power starts with our plates. For our health, for the health of our communities and for the well-being of our planet, plants are essential. Every PLANTA experience is a step towards a greener future. Our commitment to environmental sustainability is woven into every aspect of our business, from our sourcing and restaurant design to our packaging and partnerships, we seek to give back to the world more than we take.
Led by Chef Lee, the PLANTA Queen menu offers impressive and unique dishes, including sushi (chilled and raw), dumplings, small plates, wok and noodles. Their signature dishes include the Ahi Watermelon Nigiri, Rainbow Roll, Pad Thai Slaw, Crispy Wontons Bang Bang Broccoli, General D’s Chouliflower, Spicy Seoul Noodles, and Pineapple Fried Rice – and all made with absolutely zero animal products!
The drink menu features cocktails with quirky names, including Herb Your Enthusiasm to Mez-Cal Me Maybe. They also offer cold pressed juices, sake, beer, wine, and hard cider. You’ll always want to save room for dessert when dining at PLANTA. PLANTA’s dessert menu deserves all the hype and includes vegan chocolate cake and homemade mochi.
“I attended a tasting with a group of well-known New York chefs. It was a full house and we walked right into a vibrant community of plant lovers eating, mingling and having a wonderful time around healthy plant-based food. It was great to see how Planta Queen brought people from all over, even on a cold winter Monday night!” said Preeta Sinha, founder of One Green Planet.
The location offers 140 seats in a two-level space designed by award-winning studio ICRAVE. There’s a long bar, an open kitchen, front lounge seating, the main dining room, and an underground “dumpling speakeasy” that doubles as a private dining room. The design features Candice Kaye wall coverings, Asian-themed ironwork, woven pendant lights, and ebony-stained wood. The main dining room floor uses a simple, modern design with custom plaster artwork by artist Sanaa.
