Meta and Seoul National University jointly launched a research center in Seoul. The US-based technology company, formerly known as Facebook, set up the facility with said university to conduct research on the metaverse and extended reality (XR) technology.

The American tech company will also build an XR Experience Center inside the SNU Central Library. This will allow students to have first-hand experience of the research activities hosted by XR Hub Korea.

The Korean daily Joongang reported that SNU’s hub is Meta’s second XR hub in Asia. The company’s first center was opened in Taiwan in May. Meanwhile, experts from various reputable institutions and industries are expected to work together on research related to innovation, metaverse economic benefits, cybersecurity, data and privacy.
